Unnao Rape Convict Receives Interim Bail from Delhi HC to Attend Daughter’s Wedding
Guwahati: Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and rape case defendant from Unnao was given temporary release from custody on Monday so he could attend his daughter’s wedding.
According to reports, he was given bail for a period of 15 days, from January 27 to February 10, by a division bench made up of Justices Mukta Gupta and Poonam A. Bamba.
It should be noted that Sengar was found guilty and given a 10-year prison term in the custodial death case. He was also found guilty and given a life sentence for raping a young girl in Unnao in 2017.
His appeal against the verdict and punishment is still pending before the High Court. The High Court is also debating his request for regular bail.
He has also requested provisional bail in the first rape case on the same justification. Earlier, a division bench sent a notice to the CBI and the subject was scheduled to be heard on January 16.
