US President Biden’s German Shepherd Bites Another Secret Service Agent
International Desk, 27th September: In a startling turn of events at the White House, President Joe Biden’s two-year-old German Shepherd, Commander, has reportedly bitten another US Secret Service agent, marking the 11th such incident involving the canine.
According to Anthony Guglielmi, the Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service (USSS), the incident occurred yesterday around 8 pm when a Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer came into contact with Commander and was subsequently bitten. The officer received immediate medical attention on the complex.
The injured officer is reported to be in stable condition and has spoken with Secret Service Uniformed Division Chief Alfonso M Dyson Senior.
This incident follows a series of biting episodes involving Commander, including a November 2022 incident where an officer was hospitalized after the dog bit their arms and thighs.
In response to these incidents, the Biden family has been actively working on new training and leashing protocols for Commander to address the unpredictable nature of the White House grounds. Elizabeth Alexander, the communications director for the First Lady, expressed the First Family’s gratitude to the Secret Service and Executive Residence staff for their efforts in ensuring their safety.
It’s worth noting that another of President Biden’s dogs, Major, was also involved in biting incidents at the White House, and Commander took his place in 2021.
This latest incident adds to the growing concerns surrounding the behavior of President Biden’s dogs, with previous episodes raising questions about their ability to adapt to the White House environment.
