ICC WC 2023: Cricket Teams Arrive in Guwahati for Warm-Up Matches

Sports Desk, 27th September: In preparation for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, cricket teams have begun arriving in Guwahati, where four warm-up matches are scheduled to take place.

Early today, the Sri Lankan cricket team landed at Guwahati Airport, marking the commencement of team arrivals. The Bangladesh team is expected to arrive in the city at approximately 5 pm later today. Both teams will be accommodated at the Vivanta Guwahati during their stay.

Guwahati is set to host these crucial warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup, despite the disappointment of not being selected as a venue for any World Cup 2023 matches when the ICC unveiled the tournament schedule in June.

According to the ICC’s official schedule, the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati will be the stage for four warm-up matches starting from September 29 and concluding on October 3. The series of warm-up matches will kick off with a clash between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on September 29. On September 30, India will host England in the second warm-up match.

On October 2, the third warm-up match will feature England facing Bangladesh, and the final warm-up match in Guwahati on October 3 will see Afghanistan taking on Sri Lanka.

It’s important to note that all ten participating teams in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will compete in two official 50-over contests during the week leading up to the tournament’s official start on October 5. These matches will be spread across three different cities in India, as announced by the ICC. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting series of warm-up matches as the countdown to the World Cup continues.
