Voting Underway for 2 Rajya Sabha Seats in Assam

Guwahati: Voting is underway for two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam.

The voting began at 9 am and will last till 4 pm at the Assam Legislative Assembly.

BJP has nominated Pabitra Margherita has been nominated for one seat, while Rwngwra Narzary of the United Peoples Party Liberals (UPPL) has been nominated for the other. Meanwhile, Ripun Bora has been nominated by the Congress as their candidate.

Earlier, the opposition Congress accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its supporters of “selling” five of its lawmakers to assist the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the Rajya Sabha elections.

In Assam, a candidate must receive 43 votes in order to be elected. In the assembly, the BJP and its allies have 83 of the 126 votes. There are 43 votes between Congress (26), AIUDF (15), CPI (M), and Raijor Dal.

Meanwhile, at 5 pm the votes will be counted.
