Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state, Assam Police arrested one suspected drug peddler from Jorhat district of Assam on Sunday.
The peddler has been identified as Amjad Ali alias Rubul Ali who is a resident of Mariani Pukhuria Gaon.
Acting on a tip-off, police official from Mariani conducted an operation in Mariani town of the district and recovered around 12 grams of suspected brown sugar from his possession.
Police officials informed that the market price of the recovered drugs is around Rs 40,000.
Meanwhile, a legal proceeding has been initiated and further investigation is underway.
It may be mentioned that over the past few months several peddlers have been arrested but the police are unable to arrest the masterminds or primary suppliers of contrabands.
