Why did Nitin Gadkari Ask for a Postponement in Construction on the Jorhat-Majuli link bridge?

Guwahati: Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday ordered the contractor to go-ahead to halt construction on the Jorhat-Majuli Bridge over the enormous Brahmaputra River.

Gadkari is on a visit to Assam and other Northeastern States to assess the initiatives carried out by his government.

According to reports, UP State Bridge Corporation Ltd. was the target of his directive because he had previously held the business responsible for its subpar work in Uttar Pradesh.

He directed the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to contract out the bridge’s construction to local small construction firms.

CM Sarma welcomed Nitin Gadkari to Assam with Assamese gamusa on Wednesday.
