Will Guwahati reclaim its youth? The state capital will be the new destination for the move
Guwahati: Many areas of Guwahati city are now underwater as a result of the recent incessant rain. The day-to-day life of the people have been disturbed. The traffic system is becoming more challenging. In other words, Guwahati has been mocked as the centre and entrance to the North East by the rain-induced artificial floods. Because of this, fresh ideas for the future of the city of Guwahati have emerged. But what are the ideas for the city?
According to reports, Janata Bhawan and the Assam Legislative Assembly may be relocated from Guwahati. Instead, there is a lot of discussion at the government level about making Guwahati the centre of City Tourism like Singapore. Soon, Guwahati will take on a new identity inside the nation. Guwahati will gain the reputation of being a “green city” and one of the top tourism destinations in the nation. However, one of the Northeast Indian cities would lose a part of its identity as a result. That identity is Introduction to the capital.
In other words, Guwahati won’t serve as the centre of state government. The location of all government offices will be shifted to a new place. The state government’s strategy could offer some relief to city residents. However, further material from the city of Guwahati has also been made public. As a result, foreigners today occupy more than 40% of the land in Guwahati city. If this tendency continues over the next 20 years, it’s possible that the bulk of the land in Guwahati city will not belong to residential Assamese. 60% of individuals living as permanent residents in multi-storey buildings built along the main highway are non-Assamese families.
These aspects may have been highlighted by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Therefore, the residents of Guwahati will be freed of some difficult problems, mainly from traffic congestion, shopping, artificial floods, etc, if the state capital is moved from Guwahati within the next five years.
Reportedly, the state government and a Singaporean institute have already met. It has also been suggested that Guwahati is be transformed into a city modelled after Singapore.
However, The Assam government is yet to officially disclose this information.
Moreover, the capital may soon move to Guwahati’s north side, according to high-ranking state government officials. In North Guwahati and the surrounding area, land surveys have also begun. If so, a new sizable city has been developed close to Guwahati. The capacity to stand up will also be complete.
