Guwahati: A woman was found dead after consuming mushroom at Merapani in the Golaghat district of Assam.
The deceased have been identified as Tarali Barman along with her family as well as four other families in the area consumed the toxic mushrooms which resulted in falling ill to the rest.
They received emergency medical care and were taken right away to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH). However, Tarali Barman was unable to be saved as her condition worsened despite the medical team’s best efforts.
Meanwhile, the other affected families are reportedly in stable condition but are still under observation at the hospital.
In light of the incident, the local police have urged the public to be cautious and not consume any unknown or suspicious fruits or vegetables.
