Woman shot dead outside school In Manipur
National desk, 6 July: Just a day after reopening of schools in Manipur, a woman was reportedly shot and killed outside a school by unidentified criminals.
The incident took place on Thursday in the Imphal West district of Manipur near the Shishu Nishtha Niketan School. The identity of the women is not identified.
Notably, the incident took place only a day after the state’s schools had resumed classes on Wednesday.
According to a previous statement from Chief Minister N Biren Singh, classes for grades one to eight will resume on Wednesday on July 5.
It should be noted that following the ethnic clashes that erupted in the state in May, schools were closed for over two months.
According to Biren Singh, who spoke at the press conference, the government has also chosen to place paramilitary and security forces in risky locations. As PTI reported, more state forces have been mobilised to guarantee security for both Meitei and Kuki farmers so that agricultural activities may begin. He further stated that bunkers placed along the hill and valley districts will be removed.
The state’s prohibition on internet access has also been extended for a further five days til July 10.
