Work on Toy train park to start soon in Arunachal
Guwahati: The Railways’ ambition to build a toy train theme park in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, is about to get underway.
Work on the project, which is expected to boost tourism in the region along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, will begin soon.
Tawang is home to India’s largest Buddhist monastery, which lies almost 450 kilometres from the state capital, Itanagar, at an altitude of 3,048 metres.
Soldiers stationed in this district along the Indo-China border will be able to enjoy recreational activities in the park with their families, according to officials. A food plaza, a toy railway, and other leisure places will be available at the park.
The Park would be created about 14 kilometres from the Bumla pass, according to sources.
The NFR stated, “The Railway is building (the project) in collaboration with the government of Arunachal Pradesh to boost tourism and recreation facilities for our gallant soldiers.” At a meeting with NFR general manager Anshul Gupta in August, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu gave his approval to the project.
“After gaining in-principle clearance, a comprehensive estimate of about Rs 15.5 crore was given to the state government.” Contracts will be given if the government deposits funds,” said an NFR official. The toy train will have a total track length of roughly 2500 metres and will consist of an engine and three carriages, each with a capacity of 12 passengers. The toy train track will be erected around the periphery of the gorgeous Pankang Teng Tso Lake, also known as PTSO Lake, which is located up ahead on a winding road on a ridge above Tawang town.
