Guwahati: A youth has been arrested by the Assam Police for allegedly raping a minor girl in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Monday.
The rape accused identified as Amir Hamja is a resident of Salakati Bazar Majidpara in Kokrajhar.
According to records, the accused befriended and reportedly raped a minor girl from a tribal village. The accused is also said to have taken images of the incident, which went viral.
The event was only brought to light after other residents in the area noticed the viral photos and contacted the victim’s relatives.
It needs to be mentioned that a case has been registered at the Kokrajhar Police Station under cybercrime and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) act and further interrogation is currently underway.
