Zika Virus case confirmed in Kerala

Guwahati: With the COVID-19 pandemic still being one of the major issues in the country, Kerela has now reported one confirmed case of the Zika virus.

Apart from the confirmed case, there are 13 more suspected cases.

Among the cases, State Health Minister Veena George informed that a 24-year-old woman who is pregnant from Parassala in Thiruvananthapuram is the first confirmed case. He added that she has no travel history but also informed her that her home is at the Tamil Nadu border.

She had symptoms like fever, headache, and rashes all over her body. It has also been reported that a few days ago, her mother too had similar symptoms.

The symptoms of the virus are similar to dengue.

Apart from the woman, there are 13 others suspected cases that have also been reported and the state government is waiting for a confirmation on this. The samples are currently being tested at the National Institute of Virology in Pune.
