1 Dead after Flash Floods in Guwahati, Assam
Guwahati: One person has reportedly died after flash floods rocked Guwahati city on Tuesday.
The individual is from Anil Nagar. The person is suspected to have died on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Prasad Banikya.
The deceased’s body was transported from his residence in the van of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Commissioner (GMC).
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed at Anil Nagar. GMC Commissioner Devashish Sharma is also present at the spot to take stock of the situation.
Several portions of Guwahati have been covered in water as a result of floods produced by incessant rainfall since Monday evening.
Several portions of the city have been inundated under water, including Dr. B. Baruah Road, RG Baruah Road, Nabin Nagar, Anil Nagar, Ulubari, Sarumotoria, Hatigaon, Chandmari, and others, creating major difficulty to commuters.
The bodies of four people who were trapped inside their home after a major landslide in Boragaon were rescued by rescue teams earlier on Tuesday.
In the meantime, the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMA) has recommended locals not to venture out unless absolutely necessary due to the continuous rain.
