16 Bogies of Goods Carrying Train Derails in Assam’s Boko

Guwahati, 7 June: At least 16 bogies of a goods carrying train detached at the Kamakhya-Jogighopa railway track in Kamrup district of Assam on Wednesday.

The train accident has been reported at Singra Railway Station in Boko. Numerous bogies reportedly derailed from the moving train and 15–16 of them separated and broke apart. The train was reportedly carrying coal.

Following the incident, the train travelled 200 metres away on only its 6-7 felt-out bogies.

There were 60 bogies altogether in the train. However, nobody was injured in the incident.

Earlier, several coaches on the 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express derailed and fell on a nearby track in Balasore, Odisha. The derailed carriages were struck by the 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express which was travelling in the opposite direction on a similar track. A few Coromandel Express coaches lost control and collided with the third track’s halted freight train.

Over 900 people were injured in the terrible train accident that occurred on the night of June 2 and nearly 300 people lost their lives. Around 7 o’clock in the evening, the train collision which according to records is the fourth deadliest in India occurred near the Bahanaga Baazar station in the Balasore district roughly 250 kilometres south of Kolkata and 170 kilometres north of Bhubaneswar.
