Guwahati: Amid crackdown on child marriage in Assam, a girl who is 16 years-old got pregnant and died on her way to the hospital in Bongaigaon district of Assam.
Reportedly, the girl developed serious complication after her family members tried to get the baby delivered at home.
She was immediately shifted to the Chalantapara Health Care Centre from where the doctors referred her to Bongaigaon as her condition got worst.
However, the girl passed away while on her way to Bongaigaon
Following the incident, the deceased girl’s husband and father have been arrested by Assam police.
Police official identified her husband as Sahinur Ali and her father as Aynul Haque.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
