Guwahati: In a tragic incident, two people died and others suffered injuries in a head-on collision between two trucks at the ICAR of Umiam Shillong Bypass Road on Thursday morning.
The incident took place at around 8 am.
The mishap occurred when a loaded truck bearing the registration number WB 41 G 6998 collided into another truck bearing the number NL 01 AE 3329 coming from the opposite direction.
According to reports, the loaded truck was heading towards Silchar when the incident occurred.
The second vehicle’s driver died on the spot while the handyman suffered minor injuries.
The incident also injured a pedestrian who was immediately rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital.
Reportedly, she later died as a result of her injuries while undergoing treatment.
Following the collision, a hatchback vehicle that was following the second truck collided with it.
However, the first truck’s driver fled the scene.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
