Guwahati: In the ongoing war against illicit smuggling of wildlife species, as many as 20 exotic birds and animals have been rescued from one vehicle in Champhai district of Mizoram on Saturday.
The exotic birds and animals were rescued by Mizoram Custom Preventive Force from Mualkawi area of the district.
The rescued birds and animals include – 4 Marmoset monkeys, 2 Capybara, 13 Solomon Cockatoo and one Macaw Parrot.
It is suspected that the exotic animals were being smuggled from Myanmar.
