5 Killed in Vehicle Crash During Election Rally In Meghalaya

Guwahati: Five individuals died in a terrible accident in Meghalaya while travelling to an election rally in a vehicle.

As per reports, the deceased were TMC political party supporters. There were a few other people who suffered serious injuries in addition to those five.

The incident took place at Bolmedang near Kharkutta at around 11 am today morning. They transported the injured people to the hospital as soon as the rescue personnel arrived.

The vehicle was carrying people for a TMC election meeting at Adokgri. 

Out of five, four of the deceased were identified as Merina Sangma, Sabina Marak, Kukila Momin and Tesa Sangma.

Deputy Speaker of Assam Dr. Numol Momin visited with the families of the five women killed in a tragic vehicle accident this morning in Kharkutta. They were en route to a public meeting of the TMC.

The Deputy Speaker sent the grieving family members his most sincere sympathy. He prayed for the departed’s souls to find eternal peace.

In a similar incident, two female choir members of the Umdang Presbyterian Church died after a Bolero pickup carrying about 33 people, including the two victims, overturned in the Maukumkha village of Meghalaya.

The deceased were identified as Dearly Daffodil Rashir and Sonamika Ryntong. Both of them were residents of Umdang Village.

The incident took place around 10 am. It was when the Bolero pickup carrying the choir members reached Mawkumkha. Reports state that the driver was attempting to park the vehicle when it overturned and fell into a narrow valley. Rashir and Ryntong tragically died as a result of the truck’s sides crushing them.

The choir members, who ranged in age from 15 to 25, were their route to the Mawkumkha Presbyterian Church to attend the Rilyngngam Presbytery church service. The Mawshynrut Subdivision is around 13 kilometres away from the settlement of Mawkumkha.
