AP: First Indian female athlete to win medal at WT G2 event
Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh): Arunachal’s Rupa Bayor have brought laurels to the state and the nation by winning a bronze medal at a taekwondo event during the 8th Crotia Open International Taekwondo Championship in Zagreb city of Croatia.
Rupa Bayor is a resident from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
She won the medal in the female senior 1 at the poomsae event from February 26,2022.
By winning the medal, Bayor has become the first Indian athlete to win any medal at a G2 event of World Taekwondo (WT).
Croatia Open is sanctioned by World Taekwondo (WT), which is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Taekwondo Associtation has appreciated the efforts of Rupa Bayor.
It needs to be noted that Bayor further won a silver medal at the 13th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu of Nepal.
