Assam: 2 arrested for vandalising fire brigade vehicle in Hailakandi
Guwahati: Two people were arrested on Monday in a rural section of Assam’s Hailakandi district, which borders Mizoram, for reportedly vandalising a fire department vehicle.
According to reports, a fire broke out at a market in Gharmurra on Sunday night, destroying at least twenty establishments.
An enraged mob vandalised the fire department’s car, claiming it arrived late.
As per police officials, the fire department was doing their job to suppress the fire when a gang of individuals stormed the car and completely destroyed it.
Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, an FIR was registered and a search was initiated to find individuals responsible for the vandalism.
Officials further claimed that two persons had been arrested and that a search operation was underway to find the others involved.
