Manipur: Second Bomb Blast within 12 hrs Rocks Imphal East District

Guwahati: A bomb exploded has rocked the capital city of Imphal in Manipur in the early hours of Friday.

The capital city of Imphal was shaken by two bomb blasts in less than 12 hours on Thursday and Friday. The second explosion occurred in the early hours of Friday morning.

The explosion took place around 3:30 am at the premises of a residential house that belong to one executive engineer identified as RK Virendra located at Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai.

According to reports, the explosive is suspected to be an IED which exploded and damaged three cars parked nearby.

However, no casualties have been reported because the device went off early in the morning.

A team from Porompat police station dispatched to the blast scene to undertake an initial investigation.

The police team has already gathered splinters spread throughout campus with the help of authorities from the Forensic Department to determine the nature of the blast.

Meanwhile, residents in the neighbourhood staged a protest against the bomb blasts that shook Imphal twice in a 12-hour period.

An IED detonation was reported on Thursday in Manipur’s Imphal West district’s Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai area.

There were no victims or injuries reported following the explosion, which happened approximately 3:30 pm

It may be mentioned that no one has claimed responsibility for either of the bombs so yet.
