Guwahati: A group of students protested the ‘Agnipath’ military recruiting scheme in Raha in Assam’s Nagaon district on Saturday.
Protests were held at Raha Chariali on the national highway. The plan was dubbed “disastrous” by the protestors.
According to the students studying for the Army exam, the Agnipath initiative is nothing more than a plan to eliminate permanent posts in the armed forces.
Students held posters and demonstrators chanted anti-Defence Minister Rajnath Singh slogans demanding that the army exams be done immediately.
Meanwhile, senior Nagaon authorities and Raha police officers arrived on the spot and quickly evicted the demonstrators from the route.
