MHA Team to Travel to Nagaland to Study ENPO’s Demand for a Separate State

Guwahati: A three-member MHA committee has been formed to visit Nagaland and evaluate the demand for a separate state made by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO).

The committee is led by MHA advisor AK Mishra and consists of Dr. Mandeep Singh Tull, joint director (Intelligence Bureau), and AK Dhyani, director of MHA’s northeast division.

Official reports state that the team would arrive in Nagaland on December 16.

Meetings with the ENPO, tribal chiefs, civil society organisations, senior people, district administration, and state government representatives are scheduled for the committee to have during the visit in the Tuensang district headquarters.

Along the Indo-Myanmar border, at the ITC, DAN Pangsha, the MHA committee is also anticipated to make a stop.

After the central committee’s visit, the ENPO has scheduled an urgent meeting of the central executive committee for December 19.

The ENPO, which is made up of the Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak, and Shamator tribes and represents seven tribes in Nagaland’s eastern districts, has been calling for the creation of a separate “Frontier Nagaland” state since 2010 due to alleged concerns with development or a lack thereof.
