Mizoram: Aizawl Police Arrest Burglars, Highlight Importance of Citizen Cooperation in Crime Prevention

Northeast Desk, 16th April: Aizawl Superintendent of Police Rahool Alwal, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, announced the arrest of burglars on March 27 and April 11, with several cases registered against them at the Aizawl Police Station.

SP Alwal detailed the cases, stating that Malsawmdawngkima (33), a resident of Bungkawn Veng, Aizawl, was apprehended for stealing a Firefox bicycle worth Rs. 30,000 from the residence of Chief Electoral Officer Madhup Vyas at MINECO. The stolen bicycle was later sold for Rs. 1,800. Malsawmdawngkima faces multiple charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for burglary and theft.

Additionally, Vohbik Malsawmdawngzela (23), a resident of Zemabawk, was arrested on April 11 for stealing bikes and cash. He has been charged under several sections of the IPC at different police stations, including Aizawl PS, Bawngkawn PS, and Kulikawn PS.

Highlighting the importance of citizen cooperation in crime prevention, SP Alwal called upon all citizens to assist the police in solving crimes in the city. He emphasized the value of installing CCTV cameras at private homes to aid in the detection and resolution of criminal activities.

The Aizawl SP’s call for citizen involvement underscores the collaborative effort required to maintain law and order in the city, urging residents to play an active role in supporting law enforcement agencies in their crime-fighting endeavors.
