Shillong – Shillong Lajong extended their lead in Group E of the Meghalaya State League 2024 with an impressive 6-2 victory over Seinbhalang Shktentalang in Wahiajer, marking their second consecutive win. Kynsaibor Lhuid was the standout performer, netting a hat-trick with goals in the 18th, 37th, and injury time (90’+5).
The match got off to a blazing start for Lajong, with early goals from Abhay Chettri (3’) and Deibormame Tongper (16’, 20’) setting a dominant tone. Despite the early setback, Shktentalang fought back with Tip Rasmut scoring in the 36th minute and Teibormi Tariang adding another in the 71st, energizing their supporters but ultimately falling short.
In Group B, Sutnga made a remarkable comeback to defeat Riangdo Youth 4-1. After Riangdo’s Batskhemlang Thongnirit opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, Sutnga rallied with goals from Skhemborlang Rupai (35’), Raplangki Lyngdoh (54’), Cheerfulness Shadap (77’), and Deligent Pdang (90’+4) to secure a commanding win.
Meanwhile, in Group A, Lumsohkhlur edged out Pinggera Do•gisik with a 2-1 victory in Tura. Goals from Hellocomet Marbaniang (13’) and Richmond Nongsiej (44’) put Lumsohkhlur ahead, while Rakanchekam R Marak’s goal in the 37th minute kept the match competitive, but no further goals were scored in the second half.
In a closely contested match in Group C, Tyrsad hosted their first-ever MSL match but fell to Ladthadlaboh, who clinched a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to Rangdajied Sayoo’s strike in the 20th minute.
Group D saw Mulait United and Iatyllilang Lumsehkot Raliang play to a scoreless draw at Khliehriat, while in Group F, Pynursla United triumphed over Patharkhmah 2-0 in Shillong, with Riborlang Dkhar scoring both goals (44’, 90’).
Looking ahead, Mawtari Myrdon is set to face 7 Wasa United today in Group E, with kick-off scheduled for 2 pm at Wahiajer.
