Air Quality in Guwahati Remains Poor With AQI at 346

Guwahati: The air quality of Guwahati has persisted in being poor with an alarming 346 on the Air Quality Index (AQI) which is classified as a serious situation.

Dispur registers a 334 AQI indicating that it has also been affected by this.

Guwahati’s air quality topped that of Delhi, it is important to note that on February 21 raising concerns among urban residents as well as environmentalists.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) show that on February 21, the AQI in Guwahati was above 300 while it was below 300 in Delhi and Mumbai.

Following this on February 21, the city awoke to a heavy coating of dust and other pollution.

In addition to Guwahati, Agartala and Gangtok also ranked among the top 50 most polluted cities in the world.

In the past 24 hours, 36 kids having respiratory illnesses were hospitalised to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital as a result of the bad air quality.
