AIUDF MLA: Unemployed Youths Become Source of Govt. Revenue

Guwahati: Hafiz Rafiqul Islam, leader of the All-India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and MLA from Jania in Assam’s Barpeta district accused the state administration on Monday of attempting to collect cash from the unemployed through job advertisements.

“The government is in a financial crisis and it shows in their behaviour,” Islam remarked.

He claimed that the government promised one lakh employment in Assam last year, but just 1,200 have been delivered thus far. He accused the administration of not delivering on its promises.

He claimed that the Assam administration has been offering unemployed youth false hope. “The government has been posting job adverts, but there have been no updates or developments after the exams, and sometimes even after the deadlines,” he stated.

He further said that the government has been publishing advertisements solely for the purpose of collecting income rather than providing work for the youth.

He further added that “Application fees for third and fourth-grade jobs have been reported to be as high as Rs 1400 in recent adverts. This appears to be an unfairness to those young people who are willing to apply.”
