Akhil Gogoi Voices Concern Over Delimitation of Constituencies

Guwahati: The delineation of constituencies was challenged by Akhil Gogoi, Sivasagar MLA and the leader of the Raijor Dal, who claimed it would cause issues.

Akhil Gogoi stated during a news conference held today in Sivasagar that three Upper Assam constituencies—Sivasagar, Golaghat, and Dibrugarh—are likely to be eliminated.

He added that no indigenous person would be protected by the removal of the Upper Assam constituencies to the topic of how the government would secure the indigenous people.

He added that it would not be acceptable to break off the Amguri constituency.

Gogoi urged that the government take action to remove the Sivasagar, Golaghat, and Dibrugarh districts’ electoral districts.

Additionally, he requested that the ruling party host an all-party meeting and ask the Election Commission to halt the delimitation process.

Second, he demanded that a special assembly session be called to discuss the delimitation procedure in order to prevent the loss of any constituencies.
