Amid Assam Floods & ‘Agnipath’ Protests, NFR Cancels 10 More Trains

Guwahati: At least 10 more trains have been cancelled by the North-East Frontier Railways (NFR) due to continuous protests in Bihar against the ‘Agnipath’ military recruiting scheme and the recent flood crisis in Assam.

The decision was made in light of widespread agitation that resulted in damage to railway infrastructure, including the burning of train coaches in areas served by the East Central Railway and flood-related damage to railway tracks in Assam’s Lumding and Rangia divisions.

Meanwhile, NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Sabyasachi De noted that some trains have been cancelled, redirected, rescheduled, short-terminated, and short-originated.

The NFR cancelled 11 trains owing to violent protests in Bihar and eight trains due to flooding in Assam on Friday.
