Amit Shah to Address 2 Rallies in Meghalaya Tomorrow

Guwahati: Union home minister Amit Shah will visit Meghalaya on Tuesday and speak at two electoral rallies in the state’s capital, Shillong.

According to reports, Amit Shah would travel to Nagaland today and speak at an electoral rally.

The Union Home Minister would speak at the first election campaign event in West Shillong and the second in Pynthorumkhrah, according to Meghalaya BJP President Ernest Mawrie.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Meghalaya on February 24, according to Ernest Mawrie.

“We are now waiting for permission for the Tura rally, but the Prime Minister will take part in a roadshow in Shillong on February 24. The roadshow will be started from Central Library through the Police Bazar and lakhs of people will take part in the roadshow,” he said.

“The Prime Minister will pay floral tributes to freedom fighter U Tirot Sing. The people of Meghalaya love Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Ernest Mawrie added.

The Meghalayan government has refused permission for PM Modi to hold an electoral rally at South Tura’s PA Sangma Stadium. The BJP expressed displeasure with the decision claiming that the prime minister is unstoppable.

The NPP and other parties, according to the BJP sensed a “Modi wave in Meghalaya,” so preventing Modi’s rally in the state was a calculated move.

Meghalaya will hold its assembly elections on February 27 along with Nagaland. The counting of votes will take place on March 2.
