Arunachal: NSCN-IM ‘Minister’ Arrested
Guwahati: A ‘minister’ of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland’s (NSCN-IM) Isak-Muivah faction has been arrested in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The accused has been identified as Semley Hakhun.
According to reports, Hakun was in charge of generating income for the terrorist group in the district. A joint team of the special investigation team (SIT) and state police apprehended him.
Assam police also assisted the team in the operation.
SP Rohit Rajbir Singh led the SIT team, while SP Mihin Gambo led the Changlang police squad in Arunachal Pradesh.
He was also found to have Rs 2.18 lakh in his possession, as well as two mobile phones and three SIM cards.
At least two extortion and criminal intimidation complaints have been filed against Hakhun at the Changlang and Itanagar police stations, according to officials.
Hakhun was allegedly in charge of carrying out significant extortion operations for the armed group in the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding regions.
Hakhun is currently being interrogated in order to learn more about the NSCN-IM leadership’s organisational structure and operations.
