Guwahati: A policeman of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) was found dead in a government quarter in Itanagar city of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.
The incident took place in the SRPL Colony of the city.
The deceased policeman has been identified as Sibu George who is a resident of Kollam city of Kerala. The 50-year-old was a section officer (SO) in the DGP Cell of Police Headquarters (PHQ).
According to reports, he was found dead with cut wounds on his neck in his quarter at the Police Colony.
Soon after George’s body was discovered, senior police personnel, including IGP (Law and Order) Chukhu Apa, visited to the spot.
Apa stated it was a case of murder after a preliminary inquiry.
Meanwhile, a case was registered under Sections 302/201 of the Indian Penal Code and an inquiry was commenced at the Chimpu Police Station.
As per the official, no arrest has been made in this matter yet and further investigation into the matter is underway.
