Assam: 117 Grams of Suspected Heroin in Tinsukia, Three Arrested
Guwahati, 5th Sepetember: In a significant anti-drug operation, Assam Police seized 117 grams of suspected heroin from a residence in the Lekhapani police station area late Tuesday night. Acting on a tip-off, the raid took place in 3 No Udaipur, Kuhiarbari, Tinsukia district, leading to the arrest of three individuals.
The operation, led by Officer-in-Charge of Lekhapani, Deputy SP (P) Dipankar Dekaraja, and Jagun IC, uncovered eight packets of soap boxes, a plastic container, and 12 small tobacco containers filled with suspected drugs.
The main suspect, 33-year-old Dipak Chetry, was apprehended alongside Bed Bahadur Chetry and Norendra Bahadur Chetry. The police believe the trio is part of a larger drug supply network operating in the region.
An ongoing investigation aims to trace the source and other accomplices involved in the drug trade, as authorities intensify efforts to curb illegal narcotics activities in the area.
