Assam: 190 Shops Gutted In Fire At Market In West Karbi Anglong
Guwahati: As many as 190 shops gutted completely in a massive fire that erupted in West Karbi Anglong district in Assam on Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out at the Umswai weekly market of the district.
According to reports, almost 80% of the properties have been gutted in the fire incident.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Goods worth lakhs got damaged in the fire.
However, no injuries have been reported so far.
It is also learned that not a single fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse off the fire.
The shop owners requested immediate compensation and the earliest possible restoration of the former weekly market in a video appeal to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the state administration.
