Assam: 6 arrested for having connection with Al-Qaeda

Guwahati: In a major development by the Barpeta Police at least Six persons for allegedly having connection with Bangladesh based terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda.

The arrestees were suspected to be members of Al-Qaida in Indian Sub-Continental (AQIS).

According to reports, the six Al-Qaeda jihadists had direct contact with Mohammad Suman alias Saiful Islam alias Haroon Rashid of Bangladesh.

The news has been shared by the Barpeta superintendent of police Amitabh Sinha at a press conference.

Moreover, Sinha further informed that the arrested Jihadis have been identified as Mufti Suleman of small village Faladi in Chhotakshetra, Zahidul Islam of Khandkarpara in Howley, Saddam Hussain of Howli Kumallipara, Rashidul Islam of Dhanbandha Garaimari field, Musaraf Hussain and Makibul Islam of Katajhar in Barpetarod.

Both Musaraf Hussain and Makibul Islam are brothers.

I would also like to tell my viewers that what PFI is –  PFI , The Popular Front of India is an extremist Islamic organisation in India formed as a successor to National Development Front (NDF) in 2006 and merged with the National Development Front, Manitha Neethi Pasarai, Karnataka Forum for Dignity and other organisations. It has often been accused for involvement in anti-national and anti-social activities by the Indian Government.

It may be mentioned that the police officials further recovered around 15 mobile phones and 20 sim cards from their possession.
