Guwahati: A 7-month-old kid went missing from the paediatric wing of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the early hours on Wednesday.
Priyam Kalita was taken to GMCH with fever and anaemia on March 24 and was diagnosed with Bilateral Hydroureteronephrosis with Cystitis.
According to a GMCH statement, the father gave the child to an unknown lady for consolation on April 13, i.e. today, when the child was sobbing and both parents fell asleep at 4.30 a.m. When they awoke at 5.30 a.m., they discovered that the child, as well as the lady, had gone vanished.
The on-duty casualty officer, however, was immediately informed by the on-duty doctor, Dr. Hangsha Kotoky (PGT Paediatrics).
Naba Kalita, the boy’s father, said the infant had been confined to the hospital since March 24 and that many tests had been conducted since then, with the discovery that he was also suffering from kidney problems. Naba was unable to console him since he was crying uncontrollably, and a lady approached me and requested that I hand over the baby to her in order for her to console him. Kalita was seated in a chair when she fell asleep, and the lady took advantage of the situation by abducting my kid.”
It may be mentioned that the baby’s guardian and the hospital authority each filed two missing complaints at the Bhangagarh police station.
