Drugs worth lakhs seized in Guwahati, 3 held
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs Assam Police on Tuesday night seized a huge number of drugs and arrested three persons in the connection in Guwahati.
The arrestees were identified as Rahul Kharuwa, a resident of Bihar, Sawkuchi’s Hritikh Singh, and Jitu Moni Kalita from Rangia.
Following a tip off from sources a team from Basistha police station conducted raids in Sawkuchi, Datalpara, and Kotahbari in the city and recovered the drugs.
Furthermore, the busts yielded a total of ten packets of heroin. In overseas markets, they are worth more than Rs 20 lakhs. The cops also discovered 20 packs of empty containers intended for distribution.
The substances collected weighed around 119.24 grammes, according to the police. In addition, the raids resulted in the recovery of Rs 34,000 in cash.
Such drug distribution activities are carried out in rented locations, according to police, who also stated that despite regular raids, the drug issue remains prevalent throughout the state.
Meanwhile, another smuggler is said to be escaped from the spot. Abdul has been recognised as the suspect, and police are searching for him.
