Assam-Arunachal to form district-level committees to settle the border issues
Guwahati: The second CM-level meeting of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, which took place today at the Koinadhara State Guest House, decided to form district-level committees in both states to settle the border problem in a timely way.
Minister Atul Bora of Assam, who was also in attendance, stated that today’s meeting is very important and historic. After Assam and Meghalaya, the Assam-Arunachal border conflict will now be resolved.
“Today’s meeting was conducted after 123 communities were assimilated. Within 10-12 days, 12 regional committees will be constituted. “The district committees will conduct joint surveys in the disputed areas to identify tangible answers to the long-standing issue based on historical perspective, ethnicity, proximity, the will of the people, and the administrative convenience of both states,” said Atul Bora.
The committees’ terms of reference, on the other hand, were also finalised during the conference.
Arunachal Pradesh has encroached on Assam’s land in six districts. The state of Arunachal has encroached on a total of 8395.25 hectares of land.
