Guwahati: A massive fire broke out in Sonitpur district of Assam on Monday.
The incident took place at the Jinjia village of Biswanath Tehsil of the district.
According to reports, the massive fire was reportedly caused by an LPG cylinder explosion.
The incident occurred at the house of Paltan Basak, where two LPG cylinders exploded causing a tremendous blaze. His entire house was completely gutted in the fire including poultry (duck, chicken).
Reports further stated that two neighbouring residences were also affected by the fire. The fire was put out by local citizens and firefighters. There have been no reports of human casualties.
It may be mentioned that Basak lost cash worth Rs 3 lakh and property worth Rs 7 lakh were reportedly engulfed in the fire.
