Assam: Barpeta District Imposes Restrictions Near Exam Centers to Ensure Fair Conduct
Guwahati: The District Commissioner of Barpeta, Rohan Kumar Jha, IAS, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (B.N.S.S.), 2023, restricting unauthorized entry within 100 meters of examination centers during the upcoming HSLC and HS examinations.
The order aims to maintain a smooth and fair examination process by preventing unauthorized gatherings that could lead to disruptions. Only candidates, examination officials, and designated government personnel responsible for maintaining law and order will be allowed near the exam venues. Well-wishers and guardians are strictly prohibited from assembling in the restricted areas.
Additionally, the order bans the use of loudspeakers, mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, electronic devices, weapons, and any suspicious objects within the vicinity of exam centers. Traffic obstruction, illegal parking, and temporary food stalls within 50 meters of examination venues have also been prohibited to ensure an uninterrupted environment for students.
The bursting of crackers and unauthorized entry into examination halls have been explicitly deemed punishable offenses. The restrictions will remain in force until the completion of the HSLC and HS examinations, and the Superintendent of Police, Barpeta, has been instructed to ensure strict enforcement. Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
