Assam: BJP Govt completes 1 year, Amit Shah in Guwahati to strengthen its base

Guwahati: Himanta Biswa Sarma led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of Assam marks the one-year anniversary today.

In addition, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting the state for two days. On the first anniversary of the BJP government, Shah will inaugurate and unveil many projects during his visit. He’ll also speak at a public rally to commemorate the occasion.

While the state government has its own plans to mark one year in power with the launch of huge projects, the ruling BJP is using Shah’s visit to further strengthen its base ahead of the panchayat election next year and the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

“We are preparing to start a new membership drive in Assam later this year to accomplish a goal of roughly 50 lakh BJP members in Assam,” BJP national general secretary Dilip Saikia stated earlier. Apart from peace and development, we want Assam to be flood-free.”

It may be mentioned on Sunday, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a coalition partner in Assam’s BJP-led government, held a ceremony at its Guwahati headquarters to commemorate CM Sarma’s one-year tenure.
