Assam: BSF Guwahati Frontier Seizes Narcotics Worth Rs 12.7 Crore in 2024
The Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier has made significant strides in combating cross-border crime, seizing narcotics and other contraband worth a staggering Rs 12.7 crore from January 1 to November 29, 2024.
The BSF’s relentless efforts have led to the apprehension of 35 Bangladeshi nationals and 96 Indian nationals, as well as the seizure of 6,088 cattle heads. Additionally, the force has confiscated a substantial amount of narcotics, including 6,8851 bottles of phensedyl, 1,655 kg of ganja, 3,060.34 grams of gold, 1,0881 Yaba tablets, 1,0017 bottles of liquor, and 1.86 lakh kg of sugar.
“The Guwahati BSF Frontier has done a commendable job in safeguarding our borders,” said BSF DIG Harmeet Singh. “Our troops have been vigilant and proactive in thwarting smuggling attempts and maintaining peace and security in the region.”
The BSF Guwahati Frontier, tasked with guarding a challenging 509 km Indo-Bangladesh border, continues to strengthen its cooperation with the Border Guard Bangladesh to ensure a peaceful and secure border.
In a recent operation on November 21, the BSF seized 528 kg of cumin seeds worth Rs 3.69 lakh in Coochbehar district, West Bengal, which were intended for smuggling to Bangladesh.
