Assam: BTC Launches “Bodoland Reading Week” to Revive Reading Culture Among Youth
Guwahati, 10th September: In a bid to reignite a passion for reading among students and the public, the Department of Library Services under the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has launched the “Bodoland Reading Week.” The event, taking place from September 10th to 17th, 2024, was inaugurated by Dr. Nilut Swargiary, BTC Executive Member for Library Services, at the District Library in Dimalgaon.
During the launch, Dr. Swargiary encouraged students to develop regular reading habits and make greater use of public libraries. The initiative, led by BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, seeks to strengthen the reading culture across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), particularly among the youth.
CEM Pramod Boro expressed concern over the declining interest in reading and vowed to make district libraries more accessible to both students and the public, highlighting the need to revive this essential habit for intellectual and cultural growth.
Dr. Adaram Basumatary, Principal of Girls College, Kokrajhar, also emphasized the crucial role that reading plays in personal development and career success, urging students to fully utilize library resources to enhance their learning experiences.
