Assam CM: Late Barthakur devoted his life for betterment of society
Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended a “Shradhanjali” programme of noted social worker late Dipok Kumar Barthakur, which was held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Monday.
CM Sarma paid deep tribute to the late Barthakur on the occasion and recollected his association with him. He said that late Barthakur devoted his life to the betterment of society, the development of the state, and building the foundation of Sanatani culture in Assam.
Throughout life, late Barthakur contributed to the formation of various socio-cultural institutions of Assam including Vivekananda Kendra, Sankardeva Nethralaya, Sankardeva Sishu Niketan, New Arts Players, Balaji Mandir, Nagarik Bank, etc, Sarma said.
Stating that late Barthakur was known for his strong nationalistic fervour and was deeply rooted in Indian culture and civilization, the Chief Minister said that late Barthakur played a key role in mainstreaming the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the social life of Assam and institutionalizing this ideology.
The Chief Minister further said that as the first vice-chairman of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), late Barthakur was instrumental in giving momentum to this newly created think-tank of the government. Since its establishment, under the leadership of late Barthakur, SITA played a crucial role in taking forward the innovative approaches of the government to different sectors of the State’s economy.
He also highlighted late Barthakur’s contribution as an industrialist and said that his works would continue to inspire the young generation. Sarma termed the death of Barthakur as an irreparable loss to the socio-cultural life of Assam.
CM along with other dignitaries also released the Assamese version of the late Barthakur’s biography on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Sah-Sarakaryavah of RSS Dattatreya Hosabale, Satradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra Janardan Deva Goswami, President of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari A Balakrishnan, Assam Kshetra Sanghchalak of RSS Umesh Chakraborty, wife of late Barthakur Indira Barthakur and host of admirers of late Barthakur were present in the Shradhanjali programme.
