Guwahati: A congress Leader from Kawadanga in Darrang district of Assam was arrested by the police for allegedly conducting illegal drug trade on Friday evening.
The arrested leader identified as Rahijuddin Ahmed.
According to reports, Ahmed is the president of Kaliagaon block of Congress.
The police officials recovered 23 packets of brown sugar, few empty plastic containers and many other illegal items from the accused.
Reports further claimed that Ahmed had been conducting illegal drug trade since several years.
It may be mentioned that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
