Guwahati: A sub-inspector of the Kamalabari police station in Majuli, Assam was arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder charges.
According to reports, the accused have been identified as Parag Chaudhary got engaged in a violent altercation with his ex-girlfriend on Wednesday night, following which the former slit her throat with a blade.
The victim sustained severe injuries and she was taken to Jorhat for better treatment.
Chaudhary was taken into police custody after the incident came to light.
It has not yet been determined what caused the unprecedented escalation.
