Assam: Cop missing after falling from boat in South Salmara Mankachar

Guwahati, 7th January: In a tragic incident, a policeman was suspected to have died after falling from a boat in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar on Sunday.

The Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police of the district were en route to the Bandihana police station when the incident occurred.

The accident occurred when a policeman slipped from a mechanized boat on the Brahmaputra River, going missing.

The SP, DSP, and OCA were traveling from the Fakirganj police station to the Bandihana police station when the accident happened.

The missing police official has been identified as 36-year-old Kushal Kalita.

As per sources, Kalita fell into the river, and despite ongoing search operations, he remains missing.

The incident has brought sorrow to the community, and efforts are underway to search for the missing policeman.
