Assam: Critically Protected Golden Langur Rescued in Kokrajhar
Guwahati: A critically endangered Golden Langur with a severe shoulder wound was rescued from Khutamari village in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, January 21.
The rescue operation was led by Forest Depot Officer Gautam Basumatary in coordination with staff from Chakrasilla Wildlife Sanctuary, ensuring the injured primate received immediate medical attention.
The adult male Langur was discovered with a deep cut on its left shoulder. Although the cause of the injury remains unclear, authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances.

Following its rescue, the Langur was transported to Tetaguri Veterinary Hospital for urgent treatment, with Chakrasilla Wildlife Range officers overseeing its care.
Golden Langurs, known for their rarity and significance in the region’s ecosystem, are critically endangered and protected under wildlife conservation laws.
Authorities have urged local residents to stay vigilant and report any unusual activities to help safeguard the area’s biodiversity.
