Assam: Doyang Dam Reservoir Water Levels Rise; Gate Opening Adjusted
Guwahati, 6th August: On August 6, authorities from the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) reported a rise in water levels at the Doyang dam reservoir. At 6:00 am, the water level had reached 322.00 meters. In response, Gate No. 1 of the reservoir was initially opened by 25 cm at 10:00 am.
By noon, the water level had increased to 322.40 meters, necessitating an adjustment to the gate opening height to 0.50 meters. The current total discharge from the reservoir stands at 19.53 cubic meters per second.
In light of these conditions, all relevant departments have been directed to exercise heightened vigilance. The Golaghat district administration has advised residents living along the Doyang and Dhansiri rivers to avoid activities such as fishing, swimming, and bathing to ensure their safety.
The Doyang dam reservoir has a maximum capacity of 324.00 meters. Excess water will flow through the Doyang River, which is located near the Doyang Power House.
