Assam: Fake currency racket busted in Guwahati
Guwahati: Three people have been arrested for allegedly being involved in fake Indian currency notes by the Basistha Police along with the crime branch in Khanapara area of Guwahati.
The arrested persons were identified as Champion Sangma, Gohan Sangma, Serian Momin. All of them is a resident of Meghalaya’s Garo Hills.
According to reports, the crime branch sleuths discovered a bag carrying Rs 10,000 in authentic currency notes and the remainder in counterfeit currency notes wrapped in white papers during a search operation.
During interrogating with the three accused, the crime branch further stated about an inter-state counterfeit currency racket which that is being actively operating in the northeast region.
It may be mentioned that counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 15 lakhs and one Bolero car has been also seized during the raid.
